Everyone needs to monitor their networks. Monitoring gives you the ability to identify problems before they interrupt services. Monitoring also gives you an idea of how your networks operate in normal times, so you can tell when your networks are operating abnormally.
Not everyone can afford to implement their own monitoring system. Installing your own system—if it’s a truly capable system—is expensive. And then you’re on the hook for managing and maintaining it, and you already have enough to do without adding yet another system to take care of. Making sure that all devices are correctly monitored therefore may be a complex task that you don’t want to undertake. But such a system is really beneficial.
We have a solution for people who want to do monitoring of some or all of their networks, but don’t have the time to create or maintain a system of their own. It doesn’t require any hardware at all on your network—all you need to have is an Internet connection. We give you a slice of our very expensive monitoring server, and your own private, web-based view of that server slice. You can create as many different views of your network and its attached servers and other devices as you want.
You pay by the object, month-to-month. There’s no commitment, and you can cancel at any time. It’s a very economical way to implement really big-time monitoring and analysis on your system.
The system tells you when something drifts out of tolerance by sending an email to your PDA. You can then drill down into your monitoring server slice to find out what’s going on. The system comes with a trouble ticketing system that you can use if you don’t happen to have a formal system of your own—something else that you don’t have to install and manage.
