Network security encompasses the traditional tasks of authentication (let only authorized users on the network), access control (allow those authorized users only the resources they are supposed to access), and auditing (track where those users go, for performance and security reasons). Or, the “Triple-A” of classic network security. A better network security system also includes the tasks of behavior enforcement and automated response to limit or eliminate problems, and self-analysis to uncover security flaws.
We offer such systems and can implement most of these features on any brand of managed network equipment. We prefer HP Networking, because most of the security features are already built-in for free, and are easy and inexpensive to implement. But we can overlay security on any type of network.
This system may include a gateway appliance, network access control applications based around RADIUS, security agents installed on servers and databases, and security agents pushed to selected workstations. And the aforementioned security systems that now can come built into the network equipment at no additional cost. Click here for more information on that embedded security system set.
Fortigate Unified Threat Management (UTM) Appliance
We’re pretty excited about the Fortinet suite of products. These include high-capacity Fortigate Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliances and client software that does the usual anti-virus, anti-worm protection but also does web content filtering, VPN, policy enforcement, and you can use it to enforce behavior, even when the PC is connected to a foreign network in a completely different place. Perfect for a laptop program, and great to prevent data leakage. Want to know when people are trying to copy a database or other sensitive information to a thumb drive? No problem. And all of them can be managed from a single management console—the universal security manager, as it were. There’s no better (easier, more integrated, less expensive, more encompassing) way to add security to your networks, servers and PC’s. You can use these products together to protect your networks from the outside and from the inside, and manage it all through a single management environment. Aren’t sure that your IT infrastructure is totally secure? Use these integrated tools to find out. Even better, pay a very modest price for the pieces, and add those pieces one at a time to your network as you need them.
If you are subject to Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPPA, PCI, or other federal or state reporting systems you’ll be interested to know that these products contain both conformance and reporting algorithms that make adhering to these regulations easier.

Click here for a look at the client software that can replace your existing anti-virus/anti-worm software for about the same cost, and also enforce authorized behaviors, do SSL and IPSec VPN’s, and provide a personal firewall.

Not sure what you need? Or aren’t even sure if you’re vulnerable? We have a quick-and-easy system audit for you. We’ll come in and install our diagnostic tools on your network and run trial exploits against your network equipment, servers, databases, gateways, and other networked devices. We’ll give you a written report on what we find. Our cost for this security audit is very modest—much less than you’d otherwise spend. And the consulting fee for doing this can be applied 100 percent to any future security project.
