The 3810 switch is a high-capacity, full Layer 3 routing switch (static routing, RIP, OSPF, and BGP). This can be used as a top-of-rack switch, as a distribution switch, or as a core switch if not more than a moderate number of IDF connections are needed. These switches can stack to make a large core switch, but at that point the 5400R chassis switch is probably a better option. Up to ten switches can be stacked in a ring or up to five switches can be stacked in a highly resilient mesh. All 3810 switches support redundant power supplies (must order at least one power supply with each switch).
